Meeting and working ceremony between the Department of Forestry and Mining and the Department of Mines Management, the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Lao PDR and the Department of Basic Industries and Mining, the Ministry of Industry of the Kingdom of Thailand was held in the afternoon of January 16, 2025 at conference room 102. The head of the Lao PDR party led by Mrs. Amvieng Pheavongxay, Deputy Head of the Department of Mining Management and Mr. Sounthone Lalo, Deputy Head of Mining and Mining Department, there are representatives from the Department of Investment Promotion, Ministry of Planning and Investment, Department of Mining and Academics of Mining Management Department and Mining Department. The delegation of the Kingdom of Thailand led by Mrs. Araya Salayphet, Deputy Director of Basic Industries and Mining, Ministry of Industry. In addition, the delegates from both parties participated in the same time.
On the occasion, both parties briefed on recent mine development work and discussed on mine investment management, mine exploration and survey work, mine investment process etc. At the same time, we discussed a collaborative plan to upgrade the mining sector. The university has proposed a scholarship to upgrade the Bachelor and Master of Research in Mining Engineering and Mining Environment. It is seen as a good step to bring the mining sector workers to upgrade the field in the future. And in the future, there will be a discussion and signing of the MOU to exchange the papers. Later on January 17, 2025, the delegation visited the office of Phoubeia Mining Co., Ltd. to listen to the operation of mining and gold mining projects at Phoukham project and Huayxai project presented by the company's academicians. At the same time, in the morning of January 18, 2025, Mr. Sthaphone Duangtavanh, Deputy Head of Department of Mining Management and Faculty of Mining Management also led the delegation to visit the mining and cooking hepotas project of Sino-Agri Potas Co., Ltd. in Nongbok district, Khammouan province and listened to the report of the activity of the project and visited the mining and cooking potas factory and storage Potassium products to prepare for export also.
